Afghan media chief calls for building collective voice of Global South

Hameed Nasary, CEO and founder of STR NEWS in Afghanistan, has highlighted the importance of collaboration among media outlets in the Global South in order to build a strong collective voice which presents the true image, values and realities of the Global South and counters one-sided narratives.

Nasary was speaking in a video message for the Global South Media Partners Mechanism Inauguration Meeting and the 13th Global Video Media Forum (VMF), which will be held on November 6 in the ancient city of Xi'an in northwest China's Shaanxi Province under the theme "Building Consensus for Shared Benefits: Media's Role in Global Governance."

The new Global South Media Partners Mechanism aims to deepen collaboration among media outlets of the Global South, encouraging practical cooperation, content sharing, professional training and joint productions, as well as fostering dialogue and research among participating media partners.

The VMF is an annual professional journalism forum launched by the CCTV Video News Agency (CCTV+) in 2011, focusing on the latest video content communication and innovation trends, and providing a highly specialized and interactive platform for domestic and foreign media peers.
