Anthony Greene, president of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union, voiced support for the establishment of the Global South Media Partners Mechanism, saying that such collaborative efforts are vital to ensure the survival of legacy media organizations as they face up to the challenges posed by new tech trends, social media, and the spread of disinformation.
He was speaking in a video message for the Global South Media Partners Mechanism Inauguration Meeting and the 13th Global Video Media Forum (VMF), which will be held on November 6 in the ancient city of Xi'an in northwest China's Shaanxi Province under the theme "Building Consensus for Shared Benefits: Media's Role in Global Governance."
The new Global South Media Partners Mechanism aims to deepen collaboration among media outlets of the Global South, encouraging practical cooperation, content sharing, professional training and joint productions, as well as fostering dialogue and research among participating media partners.
The VMF is an annual professional journalism forum launched by the CCTV Video News Agency (CCTV+) in 2011, focusing on the latest video content communication and innovation trends, and providing a highly specialized and interactive platform for domestic and foreign media peers.
