Media collaboration vital for cultural storytelling: ABU chief

Ahmed Nadeem, secretary-general of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, voiced strong support for enhanced global media cooperation, emphasizing that collaboration remains vital for connecting cultures and advancing cross-border storytelling in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Nadeem was speaking in a video message for the Global South Media Partners Mechanism Inauguration Meeting and the 13th Global Video Media Forum (VMF), which will be held on November 6 in the ancient city of Xi'an in northwest China's Shaanxi Province under the theme "Building Consensus for Shared Benefits: Media's Role in Global Governance."

In his video message, Nadeem also expressed the willingness to work with fellow media institutions through the Global South Media Partners Mechanism, to ensure the shared stories, culture and voices of the Global South are represented with authenticity and equality on the world stage.

The new mechanism, which will be officially launched in Xi'an, aims to deepen collaboration among media outlets of the Global South, encouraging practical cooperation, content sharing, professional training and joint productions, as well as fostering dialogue and research among participating media partners.

The VMF is an annual professional journalism forum launched by the CCTV Video News Agency (CCTV+) in 2011, focusing on the latest video content communication and innovation trends, and providing a highly specialized and interactive platform for domestic and foreign media peers.
