The 12th Global Video Media Forum opened on Tuesday in Quanzhou City, southeast China's Fujian Province.

Nearly 200 representatives from 87 media organizations in over 60 countries and regions around the world gathered to discuss video media's role in cultural exchanges and the applications of AI in video media production.

Topics on the forum's agenda include poverty reduction, agricultural modernization, green initiatives and sustainability, among others.

A joint initiative on media cooperation in countries of the Global South was also launched at the forum's opening ceremony.
